Each company should then choose the best entry from the four age groups and forward to their Battalion for judging. From there each Battalion should choose the best entry in each age group for judging at NID level. These should be submitted by Battalions to NIHQ Newport - closing date to be confirmed.

Anchor Boy Challenge 2016/17

The Anchor Boy challenge is designed as an activity you can do with your boys with minimal preparation, in your own hall. The activities can be used as part of the Anchor Achievement.

Anchor Boy Project 2016/2017 - Cancer Focus

Cancer Focus NI has programmes encouraging children to eat healthier, and exercise including visits to schools with Genevieve the Goat. They also have stories from Genevieve, Percy and Dora who encourage taking care in the sun. A Family Support Programme runs for children whose parent has been diagnosed with cancer, and especially for those whose parent has a terminal diagnosis. Cancer Focus staff work with the family to create memories, such as memory boxes, films, photo books, working with the parent who has been diagnosed to leave a legacy for their child.

A support programme for these children gives them the opportunity to get together with other children in the same position, to share their feelings, and to have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

At present there is no external funding for either of these programmes - they are entirely funded through donations from people in NI.

Free Resources for under 11s

United Christian Broadcasters (UCB) has supplied us with 11 resource books for leaders working with under 11s. You can view what's available and order by downloading the UCB Publications order form from the NI Downloads page here. Whilst these resources are free you have to pay for postage and packing and can include at your discretion a voluntary donation to the work of UCB.
