The Boys’ Brigade is a worldwide, Christian, youth organisation for boys aged 4 to 18 years. In Northern Ireland, the Boys' Brigade, sometimes referred to as the BB or BBNI, is the largest uniformed youth organisation. We have 300 BB Companies meeting weekly, usually weeknights, from September – April / May. The Boys’ Brigade companies are run in local churches and missions throughout Northern Ireland by officially trained local volunteers from the church or mission. 1st Aghalee get "on their bikes" to Launch New Company Three leaders (including the Chaplain!) and about eight other helpers are taking to the toe path between Shaw's Bridge and Lisburn in a sponsored cycle to raise awareness of the start of their new Anchor Boys and Junior Section. These leaders have been preparing for the start of their new company over the last six months and are looking forward to their parents information evening on the 8th September 2010, with the company starting one week later on Wednesday 15th September at 19:00. We wish them well and hopefully they have left enough recovery time between the cycle and the start of the new session. 1st Cullybackey are National Masterteam Champion The young men from 1st Cullybackey showed that they had great knowledge of all subjects, by lifting the National Masterteam Trophy in Motherwell in Scotland. Both Northern Ireland teams performed well with 16th Newtownabbey finishing in third position overall. But it was the boys from Cullybackey, despite the fact that they finished second in the Irish Final, who came out top when they travelled to Scotland. Congratulations - you did Cullybackey proud. K.G.V.I What is K.G.V.I.? It is a training scheme that prepares young men and women for Leadership in The Boys' Brigade. It consists of two residential weeks separated by one years' service in a BB Company. But it is a lot more than that - it is a challenge, it is an experience, it is good craic and it is an opportunity to make friendships that can last a lifetime. KGVI Leaflet.
